However, the fix is trivial. After a bit of web-crawling, I’ve found this page on Adobe’s KB:

The background of a Flash movie can be set to transparent. This allows the background color or image of the HTML page that contains the Flash movie to show through and allows the layering of Flash content with DHTML content.

To enable transparence on a Flash object, all you need is to add the parameter wmode="transparent" on the Flash element. Done.

Apple Mail – The default email client is not bad. However, there are so many little quirks in its UI that using all day makes for a stressful experience.

Microsoft Entourage – A beautiful mail client and nice PIM, has great IMAP support. The only problem I have with it is its “Main Identity / Database” storage system. Entourage stores all its data in this huge file, prone to corruption and impractical for daily backups. It’s also incompatible between different language versions of Mac Office; I still have a database with few gigs of data from French Microsoft Office for Mac 2004, waiting for a way to import it.

Mozilla Thunderbird – It’s as ugly and unreliable as ever. It has the drawbacks of both Mail and Entourage.

Web mail client – Impractical.

There are projects like MailCore and GyazMail but those are not quite there yet.

I’ll keep using Apple Mail until Entourage changes its storage system. It’s not impossible, given that it most of its users insist for Time Machine compatibility.

Here are some hints pointing that the problem is caused by the incorrect extension:

• Using Archive Utility–the default archive handler on Mac OS–to decompress Filename.dmg.bz2 creates a new file called Filename.dmg.bz2.cpgz. Trying to decompress the new file creates yet another Filename 2.dmg.bz2.cpgz file, and so on.
• Using StuffIt Expander with the file creates a new Filename.dmg file. However, if you try to mount the new disk image in the Finder, a error window appears with the message:
  The following disk images failed to mount.
  Filename.dmg no mountable file systems
• Using The Unarchiver gives the same results as Stuffit Expander.

I think the the problem may be caused by a misconfiguration on the download web server and it sure sucks. So remember, simply removing the .bz2 extension may fix the problem.

These two are a bitch to Rob, for some reason I wish I grasped:

Of course, Rob is not happy about it, cause he’s a cranky old man who’s had it with youths slaughtering Proust on their pesky SMSs. But I, a barbarian slaughtering Balzac on my mails and blog, I can’t be happier about these changes. You see, French is actually easy to understand and get along with, especially for a Romanian, but its orthography is a killer. Where English has a few dozen irregular verbs and four pronouns, French has entire books on conjugaison.

Sure, the French will keep laughing their Molieriesque asses off when they hear a Belge saying “nonante-neuf”, but still, this is a step in the right direction. Here’s to the death of “quatre-vingt-dix-neuf”!

**I am building a web based issue tracker with focus on SIMPLICITY and USABILITY. It will be a hugely successful application, and it will make us rich and famous. That’s the plan.**

- Intense on AJAX. Must use an exiting AJAX framework, like Ext-JS or YUI.
